Proff. Eitan Lunenfeld, 57, M.D., M.H.A. (Master degree in Health Administration), Dr. Mory Gelfand Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, is one of Israel's senior and most prominent doctors in the field of men and women fertility past president of the Israeli Fertility Association (2007-2010).
A graduate of the first class of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Professor Lunenfeld spent most of his medical and scientific career at the Soroka Medical Center and at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Ben Gurion University of the Negev and served as the Chairman of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology between 2003-2009.
During his residency program he spent a year as a post doctoral research fellow at the Department of Reproductive Endocrinology at the Yale University in New Haven, U.S.A.
Professor Lunenfeld teaches his field of expertise, and served as a guest lecturer both in Israel and abroad. He is the author of numerous professional papers and medical researches, especially in the field of fertility. Professor Lunenfeld also serves as a reviewer of research proposals and leading professional publications in his field of expertise. In recent years he research focuses on human male germ stem cells.
In recent years Professor Lunenfeld is also involved in the development of computerized systems supporting medical decision. In 2002 he was awarded by the Feldman foundation and served as a guest professor at the Department of Medical Informatics at the Stanford University, Palo Alto, U.S.A.
In addition to his professional positions, Professor Lunenfeld servesd in various public positions, including Vice Chairman of the Israeli Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chairman of its Southern branch and President of the Israeli Fertility Association.
Professor Lunenfeld has also served as Chairman of the Soroka Medical Center Internship and residency Board.
Chairman of the Israeli Medical Schools Internship Committee, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Deputy Director of The Leon and Matilda Recanati School for Community Health Professions at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev.He was also a member of the Israeli Medical Association Residency Program Committee.
