Professor. Arnon Samueloff, MD

Chairman of Obstetrics at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

Prof. Samueloff is a member of the medical committee at Shaare Zedek and the director of Maternity Department and Pregnancy Complications unit. His professional activity outside the hospital is extensive. He serves as chairman of the Israeli board of Ob/Gyn, as a member of the higher examination committee of the Israel Medical Association and as a member of the judicial committee of the chief scientist of the Israeli Health Ministry.

Born in Jerusalem, married with four children. Prof. Samueloff attended the Hebrew University Secondary School. Following his army service in an elite paratroop unit, he graduated from the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in 1982 and completed his residency in maternal fetal medicine at Hadassah University Hospital in 1988. From 1990 - 1992 he held a fellowship in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of San Antonio, Texas.

On his return to Israel, Prof. Samueloff was employed as a senior physician in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where he coordinated the gestational diabetes mellitus program. In 1995 he was appointed director of the maternal-fetal and high risk pregnancy unit in Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Jerusalem and since 2002 he holds the position of Chairman of Obstetrics at Shaare Zedek. In addition to managing this department, - one of the busiest in Israel with over 11,000 births annually- Prof. Samueloff also directs clinics for gestational diabetes mellitus both inside and outside the medical center.

Between 1998 - 2001 Prof. Samueloff acted as chairman of the Israel Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He has won national and international recognition for outstanding research work and is the author of more than 200 articles and abstracts, many of which he has presented at national and international seminars.

Prof. Samueloff has acted as supervisor to more than a dozen doctoral thesis for medical students. He teaches at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, by whom he was granted the title of Full Professor in 2004. He is a frequent speaker at formal and informal professional forums.
