Sheba Medical Center Taburit is the marketing arm of Sheba Medical Center, the largest cord blood bank in Israel, specializing in cryopreservation and storage of umbilical stem cells. International standards The Sheba Medical Center cord blood bank operates in accordance with the Israeli cord blood law - FACT-NetCord stanard. Additionally, this is the only cord blood bank in Israel that is accredited and supervised by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB),is listed in the NMDP network of bone marrow registries and operates according to the world’s most stringent standards in this field. Taburit insurance As an integral part of its service, Taburit offers a unique insurance policy that is a global innovation. This policy guarantees that in time of need, it will be possible to make use of a preserved cord blood unit, or to find an alternative unit, and covers all the expenses associated with these procedures. Only unimpaired units are preserved Taburit is the only one that tests both the umbilical blood and the mother’s blood, in order to ensure that the blood unit designated for cryopreservation is unimpaired and in accordance with the requirements of the standards. Storage Method: Bags The cord blood unit is cryopreserved in a cryopreservation bag with two compartments, 80/20 ratio, as required by the FACT-NetCord standard and the Israeli cord blood law. This is the common practice of the large banks around the world. Among other things, this method enables sampling or partial use of the unit, while storing the remainder for later use.
